Greensville Release Mugshot Records
A booking photograph records the person's appearance during initial intake. It belongs to the arrest and booking episode. Release does not turn it into a picture of the person's current appearance, and the image does not show why the person left custody. It cannot establish a dismissal, conviction, transfer, supervision status, or exact release date.
Virginia Code §2.2-3706(A) supports access to an adult initial-intake routine booking photograph through a proper Virginia FOIA request. The law permits temporary withholding if disclosure would jeopardize an ongoing felony investigation. Juvenile, investigative, sealed, expunged, and other protected records can also face limits.
The image should be paired with two records when accuracy matters. Southside's release sheet can document the physical event, while the Greensville court disposition explains what happened in the case. A dismissal can coexist with another hold. A transfer can remove someone from the jail without returning that person to the community.
Greensville Released Photo Channels
The official channel depends on who made or keeps the image. Southside holds local booking and confinement records. The Greensville County Sheriff's Office may hold an arrest report or an image it created. VADOC controls state-prison records. Neither VINE nor a present-custody locator should be presented as a guaranteed photo archive.
| Channel | Has a verified photo? | How to access it |
|---|---|---|
| Southside public website | No gallery or roster photo found | Use the jail Records Manager and FOIA page |
| Official jail or sheriff app | No public lookup app found | Do not substitute a communications app |
| Southside booking-photo request | Adult initial-intake photo is the supported route | Send a person-specific Virginia FOIA request |
| Greensville County Sheriff | Possible if the Sheriff created or holds it | Request the named arrest or agency photo |
| VADOC locator | No public photo is promised | Ask the maintaining VADOC office whether a nonexempt image exists |
| Virginia Jail VINE | Not a promised mugshot source | Use it for custody-event notice, not photo discovery |
| Official press or local news | Sometimes, for a specific event | Match the date, agency, and caption, then verify release separately |
| Commercial third-party pages | May display copied old images | Treat only as an unverified lead and do not pay for access or removal |
A channel's photo does not settle custody. The Greensville County released-inmate search gives the person-specific jail, court, and VADOC checks needed to confirm what happened after booking.
Request a Greensville Booking Photo
Direct the first local request to Southside Regional Jail Records Manager Sgt. Takeita Eley. The office is at 244 Uriah Branch Way, Emporia, VA 23847. Email records@southsideregionaljail.org or call 434-634-2254, extension 0305. Use the jail's official FOIA page to check current routing before sending the request.
- Identify the adult by full name. Add the approximate booking date, arresting agency, and booking number if known.
- Ask for the existing initial-intake routine booking photograph in the digital format ordinarily maintained.
- If release proof is also needed, separately request the booking and release sheet, date and time, and transfer destination if recorded.
- Ask for any reasonably segregable nonexempt part and the specific statutory basis for a withholding.
- Preserve the response, source, access date, and image metadata with the related court and release records.
The jail and Sheriff are separate custodians. The Greensville County Sheriff's Office is at 174 Uriah Branch Way, Emporia, VA 23847, phone 434-348-4200, and email gcso@greensvillecountyva.gov. Ask the Sheriff for an arrest report or Sheriff-created image. Ask Southside for admission, confinement, transfer, and release records.
Virginia requests do not have to use a special form or cite FOIA, but they must identify existing records with reasonable detail. Greensville County's guide allows requests by mail, fax, email, phone, or in person. Its usual response framework is five working days, with a written seven-working-day extension when allowed. Actual reasonable costs may apply. The guide states twenty cents per page and permits an advance deposit when estimated costs exceed $200. Those county terms help with county records, but they do not prove that the county maintains Southside's regional-jail file.
The Southside jail FOIA page is the matching official route captured for this record request.
This source confirms where to begin. It does not mean each requested field exists or that every part of a jail file must be disclosed.
Note: Keep the request narrow and person-specific so the custodian can locate the existing intake image and related release record.
Greensville Mugshot Disclosure Limits
Section 2.2-3706 does not require Southside to operate a web gallery. It creates a request route for the adult initial-intake routine booking photo, subject to the stated investigation exception and other lawful restrictions. Imprisonment-related material can be withheld under subsection B(4). Probation and parole records may be withheld under B(6). Subsection C restricts expunged and listed sealed records.
Ask for the nonexempt remainder. A custodian can redact protected details while providing a record that is otherwise available. If no image exists in that office, ask which agency created or maintains it. Do not assume the county government owns the regional jail record simply because Southside serves Greensville County.
The successful capture of Virginia Code §2.2-3706 shows the law-enforcement record provision behind the adult booking-photo request.
The live statute should be checked for the version in force when the request is made, especially when related sealing provisions change.
Greensville Mugshots and Jail Apps
No official Southside roster or release-search mobile app was found during the complete review of its public navigation. Southside refers to ViaPath and GettingOut for communications, inmate tablets, messages, and photo sharing. Those services let people communicate with someone in custody. They are not an official public inmate search, recent-release list, or booking-photo database.
The distinction prevents a common error. An app-store page with jail-related branding may look like a public record channel while offering only account-based communication. A shared personal photo is also not the adult initial-intake photograph created at booking. Route the official image request to Records rather than treating an uploaded photo as a mugshot.
Southside's public site also has no verified twenty-four-hour or seventy-two-hour photo feed. A person may be gone from active custody without any official image remaining online. For the same-day no-feed workflow, the Greensville jail releases page explains how Intake, Records, VINE, and the court record work together.
Greensville State and News Photos
The VADOC Inmate and Supervisee Locator does not currently advertise a public inmate photograph. Reviewed VADOC policy also does not promise that one will be disclosed. Do not claim that a Greensville Correctional Center image is available online. A narrow request may ask the warden or maintaining office whether a nonexempt identification image exists, but imprisonment-related exemptions and redactions can apply.
An official press release or a local news report sometimes carries a law-enforcement image tied to one event. Such publication is episodic. Check the originating agency, caption, and article date. Then verify identity with the booking data and verify release with the jail or VADOC record. A news image does not become a searchable official archive merely because it remains online.
Commercial aggregators may preserve an old image long after the source record changes. Their identity match, date, disposition, and custody label can be stale. Commercial mugshot publishers are not official or endorsed sources. If one appears in a search, treat it only as a lead and return to the government custodian for the source record.
- Booking photo
- The intake image created as part of an arrest and booking episode.
- Release record
- The custodian's record that the confinement ended or custody transferred.
- Disposition
- The court's recorded resolution or action in a case.
- Expungement
- A court process that can restrict qualifying records under Virginia law.
Correct Greensville Release Mugshots
An incorrect image should first be challenged at its source. Give the government custodian enough information to find the record and explain the mismatch, such as the wrong person, date, charge, or caption. Then contact each publisher that copied the image. Government correction and publisher removal are separate acts, so a change in one place may not update every copy.
Keep a copy of the image, page address, capture date, and the official record that shows the problem. A clear correction request should name the exact caption or photograph at issue and state the requested change. When the source agency confirms an error, include that response with later requests to publishers. Do not claim a legal right that the record does not support.
Virginia had no verified special pay-to-remove mugshot statute in the research used for this page. General likeness laws, including civil §8.01-40 and criminal §18.2-216.1, may matter in some commercial uses, but they are not a guaranteed deletion right. Their application depends on facts. Avoid paying or endorsing an aggregator as the official record source.
Expungement and sealing can change public access. Under the current framework reviewed in August 2026, qualifying acquittals, nolle prosequi results, and dismissals may support a petition under §19.2-392.2. Staged sealing provisions have effective-date complexity. A missing photo after sealing does not prove when physical release occurred.
The petition route begins in the circuit court for the locality where the case was disposed. It uses the charge, arrest, and disposition details and involves the criminal-history process described by Virginia law. Do not describe all convictions as broadly expungeable. Check the current Legal Information System text when acting, because later versions of the sealing statutes can change the analysis.
For a lawful restriction, send the publisher the court order and identify the exact page. For an official copy, ask the custodian how the order affects disclosure under §2.2-3706(C). Legal advice may be useful when a disputed commercial use or refusal raises a case-specific question.
Note: A booking image identifies an intake event, so every caption should keep arrest, court outcome, release, and current status separate.
